Virgin Orbit is a satellite launch company founded by British billionaire Richard Branson. The company has a great idea of launching a rocket – Launcher One – from a flying mother ship – a modified Boeing 747 Jumbo-Jet.
After setbacks and failed launches, the company ceased operations today.
The company, which is based in California, US, has already filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States in early April. Since that it has auctioned off its main assets, mainly production facilities and the 747 aircraft, recovering just over $36 million.
