The Indian GSLV launch vehicle roared to space on Monday 29 May from the Sriharikota space centre with the first Indian new generation navigation satellite. NVS-01 was released into a geosynchronous transfer orbit about 19 minutes after the lift-off.
NVS-01, weighing about 2232 kg, is the first of the second-generation satellites for the Indian navigation satellite constellation (NavIC).
