SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted the Dragon spacecraft into orbit with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov. They will join Expedition 72 for a five-month stay aboard the orbiting laboratory and come back in February 2025 with astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Willmore – the Boeing Starliner test flight astronauts who couldn't take a ride back to Earth on their original spacecraft because of the safety concerns.

Interestingly, the launch of Crew-9 was the first human spaceflight mission launched from Space Launch Complex-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
